Phil Johnson, also known as Phil the Grill, is a pit master and owner of Barbecue Trapp Haus in Arizona. Phil is big on supporting the community and believes that if you give back, you get back. He is an award-winning pit master who uses his history and cultural background to play with different flavors in his rub. Phil believes that presentation is everything and that the eyes should get hungry before the stomach. He takes pride in his work and finds joy in seeing people enjoy his dishes. Phil's love for cooking started when he was younger and began working with his hands, learning how to build kitchen cabinets and finished furniture. He found the same satisfaction in cooking when he started getting invited to cook at people's houses and bringing the main dish, the appetizer, and the dessert. Phil's biggest accomplishment in the community is being able to provide a place for people to eat and spend time with family. In life, his biggest accomplishment is his daughters. Phil's signature rub, Rub Me All Over, is a blend of flavors from his upbringing and sets him apart from other pit masters.
